The online environment at Elea

Some parents can be unsure of the effectiveness of an online education environment, but here at Elea our varied and exciting teaching methods ensure our students are highly engaged and have all the tools needed to excel.

All students have their own Microsoft 365 account, giving them access to textbooks, our online resources, previous lesson recordings, communal chat areas and much more.

All lessons are delivered live over Teams and all we require students to have from a technology standpoint is a suitable computer/laptop and a robust internet connection.

High Quality and Flexible Education

All of the lessons delivered at Elea are recorded and stored in the cloud. Doing so gives maximum flexibility to students. They can revisit previous lessons for revision or if they were unable to attend the live lesson, watch it at a time that’s convenient for them.

Recorded lessons also allow us to monitor the quality of our teaching and learning, enabling us to provide feedback to the teachers and students and inform further professional development.

A typical week at Elea

Our timetable runs from Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 14:00 (GMT) with a short mid-morning break and 45 minutes for lunch. By starting and finishing earlier in the day, coupled with focused learning, it provides time for students to participate in other extra-curricular activities to develop skills outside the classroom. Parents have asked us to consider the amount and timing of homework, ensuring that it is only set when of value and we allocate time within the school day for students to complete this, freeing up their afternoons for activities they enjoy.

The Elea Residential
Online Students, Offline Bonds

There’s a persistent myth about online school students in that they miss out on “real” friendships. That somehow, learning from home means growing up alone. At Elea High, we know this isn’t true, which is why every year, all students are invited to attend our Elea Residential.

For the 2024-2025 school year, Elea students from across the globe came together in Cyprus for Elea High’s annual residential school trip. Many had only ever seen each other online. Some had never met any classmates in person.

Within hours, they were hiking rocky trails, undertaking environmental work, learning to rock climb and abseil, and supporting each other whilst kayaking amid plenty of laughter.

Online students don’t lack social skills. They don’t lack empathy. What they need is opportunity to demonstrate them — and when given it, they thrive.

Please note that whilst most of our students start in September for the full academic year, based on your circumstances, we also accept students at different times of the year for them to continue their education with us
