Welcome From The Directors
Ian and Laura first became involved in the world of education when they moved to Cyprus and enrolled their daughters in TLC Private School in 2011. At that time the school was still in its infancy but, impressed by the ethos, they became shareholders in the school and spent the next seven years helping the school continue to develop and grow.
After a permanent move to Cyprus, Ian and Laura took their involvement one step further and became directors of the school in 2018.
Ian and Laura’s background is in IT and, since their first involvement in the school, they have been keen to ensure that the students become highly IT literate and that the development plan of the school enables them to achieve this. Of course this is only one strand of a balanced education and Ian and Laura have supported the Principal and staff of the school in delivering high quality education under the school’s banner of ‘Every Child Matters’.
This level of the students’ IT literacy, combined with Ian and Laura’s own skills, meant that the setting up of a fully online version of the physical school during the Covid 19 crisis was a great success. Following this success, the next obvious step was to consolidate the school’s presence as an online school and from this, Elea High Online School was born.
Both directors strongly believe in the life changing power of education and how important it is to foster a mind-set which inspires a lifelong love for learning. Additionally, they recognise that a teacher’s role is to ensure that children of all ages are confident, happy and well-equipped to take advantage of every opportunity presented to them in life. Part of this springs from a holistic view of education and the development of the child as a person. Needless to say, their support of the school’s philosophy has seen the school flourish as a centre of learning where each child is valued within a caring environment, enabling all to reach their potential and become successful in life whilst remaining aware of their social responsibilities in making a difference to the lives of others. Whilst this is more difficult in an online environment, they are determined to take the best of the physical school’s best practice and embed it in the school’s online provision.
Ian and Laura are determined to ensure that the school embraces the future in its preparation of young people and is supportive of the leadership’s vision to bring the very best of a broad education to every single student of Elea High Online School.
