This week I’m turning my thoughts to something personal to our school.
Months of work was spent by our team preparing us for the relaunch of Elea High Online School this September and, as the first day of the new school year grew closer, anxiousness mixed with excited anticipation, was the order of the day. How good would our teachers prove in practice? Would our students be able to access a new communication and learning management system easily and how long would it take them to be fully immersed in and demonstrate the ethos of our school.
Mark Twain is quoted as saying ‘I spent my life worrying about everything, 95% of which never came true.’ and I am pleased to say that, like his, our fears were unfounded and the first day proved a great success. There were a few, small technical issues – soon resolved, and the teachers were magnificent in integrating students from many different countries and cultures into their classes. The young people showed themselves to be the epitome of the model student, enthusiastically participating in the lessons, working diligently and expressing their gratitude for the efforts of their teachers.
At the end of the day we received plaudits from teachers about the students and vice-versa and praise from the parents for our success in engaging our team of highly-experienced and professional teachers.
After the first day nerves, things have settled well and great learning is already taking place. We are so proud of all who are part of Elea High Online School and are looking forward with eager anticipation to the rest of the year during which we will all work together to achieve the outcomes our students deserve.
