Meet Our Experienced Leadership Team

A Warm Welcome

I am very proud to be able to welcome you to Elea High, the online school that emerged from the highly successful TLC Private School.

Determined to emulate the historic success of TLC Private School, the young people that finish their education with us not only leave with the necessary qualifications to be able to take up university offers from across the UK and Europe but, in taking up their place in the world, they will do so as articulate, caring and selfless individuals who carry with them the school’s goal of enabling them to make a difference to the lives of others, gaining personal satisfaction from doing so.

Elea High Online School sees great potential for students to learn remotely, taking advantage of all the benefits gained from learning online and enhances this with the latest in technological developments.

Having successfully operated an online version of TLC Private School during the pandemic, the natural evolution of this was to refine the product in line with our vision for personalised online learning and launch a family-oriented online school.

It is my ambition to bring to the online school, all the most effective elements of education and create an online school which will be a force in global education through its care and support for its students and measured use of technology such as Virtual Reality and Artificial Intelligence to enable our students, wherever they are studying in the world, to develop into successful young people we have proudly prepare for life.

David Lewis
Principal

David was born and grew up in Torquay before moving to Hampshire to teach in the 1990s. After being awarded the BT Primary School Teacher of the Year Award for the southern region, David took up the Deputy Headteacher role at the prestigious Embley Park School before moving to Cyprus eleven years ago.

With thirty years’ experience in education, David has seen many changes in education, some of which he was instrumental in facilitating, working with the UK’s Royal Society of Arts on their Opening Minds Curriculum.

During his eight years as Principal of TLC Private School, he oversaw the introduction of the IB Personal Development Goals to build community within the school and worked with the Head of Teaching and Learning to successfully offer the Extended Project Qualification to the students.

During the pandemic, he led the team in implementing TLC’s Continuous Learning Programme which ensured effective, full time online education for its students, meaning that no students’ education suffered during the time of school closures. At the same time, TLC Private School incorporated the innovative 21st Century Curriculum into the delivery of the English National Curriculum, enhancing outcomes for its students, becoming the first school in Cyprus to do so.

The success of the programme led the school to formalise online education through the creation of Elea High Online School and, this year, David has taken over as Principal, dedicating himself to ensuring the school offers the highest standard of education to its growing number of students.

Laura Wells
Governor

Laura’s background is also in IT with a focus on its use in the manufacturing and service sector. Laura is an avid proponent of lifelong learning and recognises how important it is for a school to not just teach the students but to develop in them a desire to see that learning happens every minute of our waking lives. She holds that a teacher’s role is to ensure that children of all ages are confident, happy and well-equipped to take advantage of every opportunity presented to them.

Laura champions the development of soft skills within the school curriculum and will be monitoring how well our students are prepared for life after school. Whilst still firm in the belief that academic success is vital, she recognises that whilst good grades will open many doors, it will be the soft skills that ultimately allow an individual to thrive in their careers and in their lives.

As Principal of Elea High, David is responsible for the evaluation and management of the education we offer your child. In addition, he enjoys the regular interaction with students and parents, ensuring that students make the most of their education experience and gain success in their studies.

I am very proud to be able to welcome you to Elea High, the online school partnered with TLC Private School.

TLC Private School has been educating young people successfully for eleven years and has gained a strong reputation for its success in preparing young people, not only for the next stage of their academic career, but also for life.

The young people that finish their education with us not only leave with the necessary qualifications to be able to take up university offers from across the UK and Europe but, in taking up their place in the world, they will do so as articulate, caring and selfless individuals who carry with them the school’s goal of enabling them to make a difference to the lives of others, gaining personal satisfaction from doing so.

As the post-pandemic world recognised the benefits of online education, Elea High Online School saw the potential for students to continue to learn remotely, taking advantage of all the benefits available to learning online and enhancing this with the latest in technological developments. Having successfully operated an online version of its physical school during the pandemic, the natural evolution of this was to refine the product in line with our vision for online learning and launch a brand new online school affiliated with TLC Private School.

It is my ambition to bring to the online school, all of the elements of education that have made TLC Private School a force in European education and use technology such as Virtual Reality and Artificial Intelligence to enable our students, wherever they are studying in the world, to develop into the successful young people we proudly prepare for life.
